Accessibility

Dover Town Council is committed to providing access to the http://www.dovertowncouncil.gov.uk/ website to as many visitors as possible. To meet this commitment, this website adheres as closely as possible to the Web Accessibility Guidelines, published by the W3C group, and the UK Government's guidelines in the Disability Discrimination Act (1995) to reach accessibility level one (Priority A).

Layout

We have provided three layouts for the website (available through the links at the top of each page) to try and cater for a cross section of visitor preferences and requirements.

The site has been built using CSS2 stylesheets. Visitors can change the style sheets in their browsers to make viewing easier for their individual requirements. XHTML used is 1.0 transitional.

If you are using the Internet Explorer for Windows browser, select the 'Tools' menu, then 'Internet Options'. The 'Accessibility' tab has an option for selecting your own stylesheet to use. The 'Safari' browser for Apple Mac permits you to choose your own stylesheet by selecting 'Preferences' from the 'Safari' menu, selecting the 'Advanced' tab, and altering the 'Style Sheet' property.

Some visitors may find it necessary to increase or decrease the size of the text appearing on screen. This can be achieved by using the buttons we have provided (top right hand corner of the website) or by holding down the 'Ctrl' key (for Windows), or 'Cmd' key (for Apple Mac), then pressing + or - to alter the font size up or down respectively. Internet Explorer users can use the 'View' menu, highlighting the 'Text Size', then selecting the appropriate option.
