OPTION TWO
Applications for financial Assistance can be made to the appropriate Committee of the Town Council and the basic guidelines for the distribution of these grants are below: -
1. The Town Council is prepared to consider applications for financial assistance from:
(a) individual members of the community;
(b) clubs and societies;
(c) voluntary bodies and associations;
(d) non-profit making organisations;
(e) charitable bodies.
2. In order to qualify for assistance, applications must normally be in the interest of and of direct benefit to the Dover Town area, or any part of it, or to all or some of its residents. In addition, the direct benefit accruing must be commensurate with the expenditure to be incurred. Local groups that are affiliated to regional or national organisations will qualify provided the local group is required to function substantially as an independent financial unit.
3. Applications will normally be considered in relation to the provision of community, cultural, sporting and recreational facilities.
4. Applicants should normally apply for only one grant during a financial year (1 April to 31 March) and should not expect to receive grants on an annual basis.
5. Committee meetings are open to the public and representatives of applicant organisations will normally be required by the Chairman of the Committee to speak in support of their application and answer questions put to them by Committee members. You should advise the Clerk of the appropriate Committee in advance who the representative will be.

OPTION THREE
MAYOR OF DOVER’S GOODWILL FUND
During the course of the year the Town Mayor holds various functions to raise money for his Goodwill Fund. The Fund is used to assist individuals, organisations and good causes within the Dover Town area for the following purposes:
(a) the relief of the elderly, vulnerable (such as young children or anyone with special needs) or hardship;
(b) the advancement of education;
(c) other charitable purposes for the benefit of the community.

OPTION FOUR
Grants may also be available from the following Charities which are administered by the Town Council: -
THE THOMAS PAPILLON CHARITY – The Trustees of this Charity invite applications from aged and needy persons who are inhabitants of Dover who wish to participate in the benefit of the income of the Charity. Preference will be given to freemen of the former Borough of Dover or their dependants.
Applications stating age and reason for request and giving particulars of income from all sources and expenditure may be made in writing at any time to the Town Clerk, Mr Michael Webb.
THE POLAND CHARITY FUND – The Trustees of this Charity invite applications from other charities/voluntary groups who wish to participate in the benefit of the income of the Charity.
